Elmina Castle
My guide at the castle was incredibly informative and knowledgeable, answering everyone's questions about the castle. It was of a very good length and I would recommend it to anyone. If choosing to visit, remember to watch out for the locals, as when looking at their craftwork and deciding not to buy any, they got very aggressive, and it was very hard to get away from them. Also be warned there is a charge for photography, so be careful taking photos.

Re. Felt like a world away from the city
I'd recommend Labadi Pleasure Beach. Maybe a bit too crowded sometimes but definitely lots of activities, especially for children and teenagers.

National Museum of Ghana
You can also visit the National Museum of Ghana next time you come to our lovely country, friend. It is among the oldest in the nation.

A key insight into the background of the country
It didn't take me long to learn that the Ghanians are incredibly proud of their history and heritage, as well as Kwame Nkrumah - the founder of their nation. I thought that a visit to the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park would give me a key insight into Ghana's background and I was right. A compulsory attraction for history buffs and those who just like being in the outdoors.

Felt like a world away from the city
Headed to Bojo Beach as Accra was starting to get a bit too much for me with its hustle and bustle. Bojo felt like a world away from the urban sprawl and I tried to get there every morning if possible. Must admit that there wasn't much for the kids to do though.

Fort and museum
We left the capital Accra and headed to Kumasi one Tuesday afternoon while everyone was at work. After finding a hotel, we decided that the Kumasi Fort - Ghana Armed Forces Museum would be our first port of call. This is one for those interested in the history of Ghana and its military. Just under three miles away from Kumasi town centre.
